I'm Jared a 37 volunteer Adult Literacy tutor from New Zealand.
I've been RPG Star Trek since late 2009.
I've been a member of Obsidian Fleet for less than a year and this is my first command.
I have three other OF characters, Jason Beauvoir Chief Science Officer on the USS Portland, Yvette Beauvoir Assistant Chief Strategic Operations Officer on SB 249 and Owen Reeves Chief Science Officer/Second Officer on the USS Endeavour.
I'm a Sci Fi freak, mostly Dr Who and Star Trek.
I also love learning. I have Diplomas in Science and Computing and a BA in Linguistics and Classics. My dyspraxia dos make learning difficult and frustrating though.
Ancient History, Languages and the Sciences are my favourite subjects, but I know a little on a lot of things, including anthropology, anatomy/biochemistry and music and film.

It is a pleasure to meet you, Jared. I'm Daniel, I'm 27. I'm currently attending American Public University (an online college) to get by Bachelor of the Arts in English with a concentration in Writing. My time may become occasionally restricted but thankfully because it is online I can for the most part schedule my schooling around work and hopefully this as well. I'm from Texas in the United States. I've been RPing off and on for years, however, I have no clue how long or how many times I have or may have been an Obsidian Fleet member. Presently I have two characters in OF, this one, and another enlisted fellow by the name of Louis Charles Champagne who is currently in the process of transferring to the USS Bunker Hill. Basically, my luck so far this time around has been two ships that got off to a great and thriving start and then apparently slid downhill over time. My goal and hope is to help keep this ship active and help wherever I can when posting starts to sink.
PS: I'm thinking about doing a small contagion series on the ship...I'm thinking a deadly form of flu that causes the victim to have telekinetic/telepathic abilities until it either kills them or is cured...anyone willing to be guinea pig in that line of posting can feel free to contact me...assuming our CO bears no objections to it. LOL...all day I have even been coming up with a 'pseudo-scientific' name for it as well as a 'common' name for it...LOL. It will be a bit of a shocker when the name is revealed...but definitely a fun flashback to a time when TOS absolutely rocked it out...LOL.
PPS: If you can't tell, I absolutely love to write...it is nothing for my posts to be extremely long and well read...especially if I can find a fellow writer in the crowd to do a JP with...then they seem to be virtually endless...LOL.

Pleasure to meet all of you.
I go by Jean-Andrea, I live in New York City, 28 years old. I currently work multiple small jobs, primarily in personal computer troubleshooting, servicing and custom builds; I also do graphic design for some clients and I am currently working on adding sequential and concept art into my repertoire.
As for Star Trek simulation experience, the last time I participated was during high school when I was with a chat room Star Trek simulation group called TrekOnline, for 30 minutes to an hour at a time several times each week. I found the experience enjoyable yet very intense, and eventually my coursework would overtake my ability to participate regularly. This would be my first time participating in Star Trek simulation since that time, and my first time doing so on Bulletin Board.
I've always been interested in the general sciences, especially astronomy, ever since I was a child. I've been privileged enough to spend a good portion of my childhood reading non fiction science books at the library and visiting the local science museums. My first encounter with science fiction was watching Back to the Future on a VHS tape; which I watched repeatedly until the magnetic tape snapped. When I learned how to use the television remote, I would watch Sliders, Stargate: SG1 and Star Trek Voyager on a regular basis. When the internet became available to me, I caught up on Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. I also enjoy Japanese Anime, typically of the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre.
I look forward to roleplaying with you all!

Very nice. I myself have for a long time loved Astronomy and gemstones...I guess you could say that I'm an amateur in them...when the clouds don't obscure them I sometimes identify or try to identify the various constellations. Gems are more difficult to differentiate, but my favorite jewelry always has amethysts in it. LOL...if I ever get married (assuming any guy is stupid enough to take me as I am...LOL) it will be either with rings that have amethysts instead of diamonds...or it'll be hematite rings...LOL...another stone I find very relaxing.
As for the computer troubleshooting issue...I've been having registry errors on my computer that prevent me from finding my dictation softwares even remotely useful...leave it to me to have them running one year, get carpal tunnel the next and then to be unable to use them at all...
Science fiction is a love of mine along with mystery, suspense, and a few other things. LOL...I reckon New York City would be advantageous to live in, at least with the hobby and love I have for writing...but I'm sure if I can ever finish any of the stories I start, I'll find publishers somewhere...regardless of where I live...LOL.

Guess that makes it my turn.
Hi, everyone, I'm Mike. I'm a 36 year old former hotel clerk living in Salem, Oregon. I've been married for about a I graduated to online freeform RP when I could no longer find groups to play tabletop RPG's with. I'm a fan of all things Sci-fi, from Douglas Adams and Anne McCaffrey to William Gibson and Roger Zelazny and even a little Rowling. Star Trek was my gateway drug into sci-fi. I've been part of Obsidian Fleet for about five or six years now, although I've been mostly inactive for the last couple years. I used to do some avatar photoshopping back in my OF heyday, but not so much anymore.
I had a stroke last year, which has left me with a few neurological impairments, including eyesight, neuromotor and some memory issues. Basically a great big bummer. I'm looking to get back into simming, but I found that Nova, while being a great platform for simming, can make it difficult to get involved with a sim when you're just starting out, don't know anyone, and can be a little shy about hitting people up for JP's. I'm hoping the forum setup here will help with that.
I look forward to JPing with you all soon.
